US military base in Syria targeted in failed missile attack

(Reuters) - The US Central Command said that a missile attack targeting the US military's Green Village base in northeastern Syria did not hit US or coalition forces or any equipment.

The command said in a statement that three 107 mm rockets targeted the base on Sunday, and a fourth missile with rocket launch tubes was found at the launch point, about five kilometers away.

And the Green Village base was targeted last month in violence between the US military and Iranian-backed militants, resulting in at least one US soldier being slightly injured.

The incident sparked a US response that killed two or three of the militants who carried out the attacks.

Central Command said it was investigating the latest failed attack, which occurred around 7.05 pm local time in Syria (1605 GMT).
