European Union President: The Yemeni people deserve peace and there is an urgent need to expand the armistice in the country

European Union President Charles Michel expressed the European Union's support for the President of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen Rashad Al-Alimi and the members of the Council at this critical moment. And according to what was stated in a tweet posted by European spokesman Miguel Bono on Twitter Thursday, Michel said during the interview that took place on the sidelines of the United Nations meetings, "The Yemeni people deserve peace. We fully support the efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy."
He also stressed in this regard that there is an urgent need to expand the armistice in Yemen.
According to Yemeni media reports, President Rashad Al-Alimi discussed with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, the latest developments in Yemen and the course of the humanitarian truce in force. During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the discussions of the United Nations General Assembly, he also reviewed the pressures required from the European Union countries to push the Houthi militia to deal seriously with efforts to establish peace in Yemen. and to fulfill its obligations under the Declaration of Humanitarian Armistice. The meeting also touched on the economic and service reforms led by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government. European interventions are available to support it and alleviate the suffering of Yemenis.
The Presidential Leadership Council, is a Yemeni Supreme Executive Council, formed by former Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi by a republican decision on April 7, 2022, to be part of a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni civil war, as he relinquished by decision all his presidential powers and the powers of the Vice President in favor of the Council, which Formed under the chairmanship of Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi and the membership of 7 members
