Al-Burhan calls on the international community to urge the political parties to agree and form a government

The head of the Transitional Sovereign Council in Sudan, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, called on the international community and Britain to urge the parties in his country to achieve a political settlement and cooperate with all parties alike.
The media of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council stated - in a statement, on Tuesday - that this came during Al-Burhan's meeting today with the British Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan Robert Fairweather; To discuss the political developments in the country and the bilateral relations between the two countries in addition to the regional situation.
 
The President of the Sovereignty Council stressed the need to achieve national consensus, expand the base of political participation, and return to the transitional path in light of the declared position of the military component to withdraw from the political process.
 
He expressed his aspiration to speed up the achievement of consensus, expressing his confidence in the tripartite mechanism as a platform in which to announce what the Sudanese agree upon.
 
The President of the Sovereignty Council reiterated his condolences to the British government and people on the death of Queen Elizabeth II, whom he described as a voice of wisdom, and that large sectors of the Sudanese people shared the grief of the British people in her death.
 
For his part, the British envoy expressed his thanks for the participation of the Head of the Sovereign Council in the funeral ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II, stressing Britain's interest in supporting the political consensus process through the mechanisms agreed upon between the parties, expressing his hope that the parties would reach as soon as possible an agreement that leads to the formation of a civilian government that leads transitional path in the country.
 
He also praised the position of the military institution to withdraw from the political process.
 
The meeting was attended by the Sudanese Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dafa Allah Al-Haj Ali, and Giles Leafer, the British Ambassador to Sudan.
