Protests in Europe against the rising cost of living and inflation

Many European Union countries demonstrated against the rising cost of living after the recently adopted policies against the backdrop of the continuing war in Ukraine, and the restrictive measures taken recently by the Union due to the continued Russian attack on Ukraine, which leads to high inflation.
The Spanish newspaper, La Bangordia, said that countries such as France, Germany, the Czech Republic and Italy had witnessed demonstrations calling for the abolition of unilateral restrictive measures against Russia and the import of cheaper Russian oil and gas again.

On the other hand, they expressed their anger at what they considered the "dictatorship" of the Union, against the independence of each state in taking measures that protect citizens.

The protests came after the European Union approved another package of sanctions against Moscow on October 6 over its own military operation in Ukraine.

Germany

During the protests that took place in the German capital, Berlin, the participants demanded the lifting of sanctions against Russia and the import of cheaper energy resources from that country.

Dozens attended the protest site, carrying German and Russian flags and banners such as "I want Russian gas and oil" and "Everyone who is silent today freezes tomorrow", in addition to asking for the government's resignation.
France

A demonstration took place in Paris to demand the resignation of French President Emmanuel Macron, the rejection of France's membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the supply of arms to Ukraine.

"Macron is supplying Ukraine with weapons for a war that does not concern us, weapons for the Ukrainian Nazi government, so now we have no gas, no electricity to run our business, no heating in our homes," the protesters said.

 

Italia

For its part, the Italian General Federation of Workers organized a rally and rally in the center of Rome, during which the demonstrators rejected the high cost of living, inflation and increased energy prices, through anti-fascist and pacifist slogans.
Austria

In Vienna, dozens of demonstrators gathered, and expressed the desire for Austria to leave the European Union, and the importance of establishing friendship with Russia, "as this will lead to lower prices for gasoline, electricity, gas, and food, and the demonstrators also expressed the importance of not imposing sanctions and high taxes, which will lead to to higher inflation.

Czech Republic

Representatives of various Czech unions gathered in Wenceslas Square, in central Prague, to protest against the government for declining public support amid a sharp drop in living standards.
