The Independent High Authority for Elections in Tunisia announced today, Monday, the opening of the door for candidacy for the legislative elections scheduled for December 17.
According to Sputnik, the application process for candidates is scheduled to last for a week, until next Monday.
The Election Commission has allocated 27 central offices at home to deposit candidacies, while 10 filing offices have been allocated abroad at the headquarters of subsidiary bodies located in diplomatic missions.
The candidate must obtain 400 recommendations from the members of his constituency, which are signatures that they give him before the start of his electoral campaign.
Tunisian President Kais Saied had issued an electoral law, stipulating that voters choose their candidates on an individual basis instead of choosing a single party list, as was the case before he took office.
