Ten people were killed and more than 20 injured in an explosion in eastern Baghdad on Saturday, according to security and medical sources.

The security sources said that the explosion occurred in a garage near a football field and a cafe when an explosive device attached to a car exploded, which led to another explosion of a gas truck that was close to the place.

Most of the victims were amateur soccer players who were on the field in their residential neighborhood.

An army statement said that a gas tank exploded in a garage in eastern Baghdad, which led to a number of deaths and injuries, and that the security forces were investigating the cause of the explosion, without giving further details.
