Brussels: Europe and the Arabs

For the second day, the talks held by the Coordinator of European Foreign Policy Josep Borrell in the United Arab Emirates continue, and according to what the Emirati media reported on Sunday, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received Josep Borrell, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in the European Union. Which was held in Abu Dhabi, discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations between the UAE and the European Union, in addition to discussing a number of issues of common interest, including the energy file.
The two sides reviewed developments on the regional and international arenas, including the crisis in Ukraine.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed the visit of His Excellency Josep Borrell, stressing the UAE's keenness to consolidate advanced bilateral relations with the European Union and its countries.
The meeting was attended by Ahmed bin Ali Mohammed Al Sayegh, Minister of State, and Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Political Affairs, the country's permanent representative to the United Nations.
According to a European statement issued in Brussels, Josep Borrell began a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates on Saturday. He will hold bilateral meetings there and attend the annual Sir Bani Yas Forum.
The visit will provide an opportunity to revitalize the bilateral relations between the EU and the UAE, as well as exchange with policy makers and opinion on regional and global affairs.
During his visit, Borrell will hold several bilateral meetings. The visit program includes meetings that Borrell will hold with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Anwar Gargash, presidential advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates. In addition, several meetings with other high-level participants of the forum.
