Erdogan: My handshake with President Al-Sisi in Qatar is a first step towards further normalization of relations..but..

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the handshake that took place between him and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Qatar on Sunday was a first step towards further normalization of relations between the two countries, adding that other moves would follow.

News Turk quoted Erdogan as saying he made aboard the plane on his return flight from Qatar, where he said that Ankara's only request from Egypt is to change its approach towards Turkey's status in the Mediterranean.
On the other hand, Turkish media reported that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country's military operations in northern Syria and Iraq will not be limited to an air campaign only, and that discussions will take place regarding the participation of ground forces.

Erdogan told reporters upon his return from Qatar that the Turkish General Staff and the Ministry of Defense will jointly decide on the participation of ground forces, according to what was reported by TRT and CNN Turk.

The Defense Ministry said Turkish jets carried out air strikes on Kurdish militia bases in Syria and Iraq on Sunday, destroying 89 targets, in response to a bomb attack in Istanbul that killed six about a week ago.
