Borrell visits Rabat to discuss the new agenda for the Mediterranean region, European-Moroccan relations, and the effects of the war in Ukraine

It was announced in Brussels today, Wednesday, that the European Union's High Coordinator for European Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, will visit Morocco. According to a European statement, the official visit will be on Thursday and Friday.

The high-ranking European official will meet Thursday, January 5 in Rabat, the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, as well as other institutional interlocutors from Moroccan society and economic actors. The next day, the High Representative will travel to Fez to meet professors and students from the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, where he will deliver a speech.

The visit will be an opportunity for an in-depth discussion on the implementation of the EU-Morocco Partnership, including the perspective of the new Mediterranean Agenda. Borrell will assess existing files and explore specific areas where dialogue and cooperation can be further strengthened.
  The meetings will also allow discussing regional and international issues of common interest and of special importance in the current difficult global context, and the global impact of the Russian war against Ukraine.
