This was stated by the Algerian Minister of Communication, Mohamed Bouslimani, during a speech he delivered on the occasion of his participation in the second session of the Arab Media Conference on "global domination and ways to confront it in the Arab world", which was held since yesterday. Bouslimani explained that the world today is living in an era of digital transformation that has opened up new horizons and great challenges, the most important of which is the Arab public's orientation to digital platforms and the dominance of social networks in the media market.
He added that these challenges necessitate taking serious steps to limit the damage resulting from them by developing a unified strategy in dealing with these companies in all aspects, especially with regard to media content and making joint and quick Arab decisions.
In this regard, Bouslimani appreciated the importance of "countries reviewing their laws, including the personal data protection law, cybersecurity and digital identity, in addition to everything related to technological development in terms of systems and legislation to ensure digital protection for all," pointing out that the exchange of expertise and experience in facing the risks of cybercrime and developing Strict Arab working mechanisms will enable the necessary protection from any penetration of local networks and ensure their safety.
He added that Algeria, which succeeded in organizing the first Arab digital summit last November, will spare no effort to ensure the success of joint efforts to confront global digital hegemony, pointing to his country working to develop an appropriate legal system and find specialized institutions concerned with ensuring data security and credibility of information and activating the role of the media, including In it digital, especially through training.
The Algerian Minister of Communication indicated that the new crimes in cyberspace would affect national security if information vigilance was not activated, especially in light of the presence of those who possess capabilities that should not be underestimated in the field of hacking protection systems.
