The United States of America confirmed, through a phone call between President Joe Biden and Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia, its commitment to Iraq and the strategic framework agreement. Biden indicated, during a phone call with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, with the participation of the Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II, during his presence in the White House, according to the American (Al-Hurra) channel, today, Friday. He indicated that he discussed with the leaders economic plans to serve the Iraqi people and Washington's willingness to support them. He stressed the United States' commitment to Iraq and consultation with it on regional developments, praising the Prime Minister's efforts to enhance Iraq's sovereignty and independence.
Biden welcomed the visit that is expected to be made by the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fouad Hussein, at the head of a delegation next week to Washington to continue discussing these programs.
As for Jordan, US President Joe Biden praised Jordan's role in stabilizing the Middle East as a force for achieving stability in the region.
And Biden wrote - in a tweet on Twitter, for social networking, Thursday -: "I sat today with His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Prince Hussein, Crown Prince."
He added, "The role that Jordan plays as a force for achieving stability in the Middle East cannot be overstated," expressing his aspiration to build on the lasting friendship between the two countries for years to come.
In the same context, the United States and the Kingdom of Jordan expressed their concern about the recent violence and tensions in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
This came, according to what the White House published in a statement on its website, during a meeting with Kamala Harris, US Vice President, and His Majesty King Abdullah II at the White House.
For her part, Harris reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral partnership and the US commitment to Jordan's security and economic prosperity. She also praised Jordan's decisive role as the custodian of the Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem and as a force for stability.
During the meeting, the US Vice President stressed the United States' support for security, prosperity, and regional integration, stressing that the necessary steps to de-escalate tensions and create meaningful economic opportunities throughout the Middle East will be necessary to achieve these goals.
Harris and King Abdullah II discussed the two countries' efforts to address the global climate crisis and related water issues, in addition to the importance of sustainable growth and development, which requires continuous economic reform, in addition to women's empowerment and participation.
They also discussed the importance of achieving stability in Iraq and other regional and global issues.
