Conference on Supporting and Protecting Jerusalem..Egypt warns of dire consequences for trying to impose a fait accompli that affects the horizon of final status negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians

During his speech at the Conference on the Support and Protection of Jerusalem held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that international law and United Nations resolutions have a legal impact on the city of Jerusalem, beginning with the Security Council’s assertion that it is not permissible to seize land by force, and that all measures taken It was taken by Israel as an occupying power, as well as the Security Council’s assertion that a measure that could change the features and status of the Holy City has no legal validity, and represents a flagrant violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and the situation was not recognized until June 4, 1967, including Jerusalem, except through negotiation.
President El-Sisi added, "I affirm Egypt's firm position regarding the rejection and condemnation of any Israeli measures to change the status quo of the city of Jerusalem and its sanctities... and the affirmation of the Hashemite guardianship over the Islamic and Christian holy places... including the entire Al-Aqsa Mosque, a place of worship purely for Muslims."
President El-Sisi added, "Egypt warns again of the dire consequences that may result from violating this or trying to preempt or impose a fait accompli that negatively affects the horizon of final status negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides."
For his part, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that the issue of Palestine and Jerusalem brought the Arabs together in a way that had not happened with any other issue.
In his speech before the Jerusalem conference of the Arab League, Aboul Gheit considered that Jerusalem is present in the conscience of the Arabs, but it suffers not only from the brunt of the occupation, but also from attempts to obliterate its identity and history, Judaizing it and emptying it of the population through repression, house demolitions and other arbitrary measures.
He considered that the aim of the conference is to support the steadfastness of the Jerusalemites, considering that the Holy City is part of history, stressing that it is under occupation, and no one can change this fact under an extremist government, stressing that Judaization attempts will only lead to more violence.
He stressed that strengthening steadfastness is the duty of every Arab, stressing the need to preserve its historical status until a lasting and comprehensive peace is achieved, and that the conference is a message to the world of the need to protect Jerusalem from violations committed by the occupation.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that his country will turn to the United Nations to protect the two-state solution, to obtain full membership, and to stop all unilateral actions, such as settlements, incursions, and others.
Abbas stressed, during his speech before the Jerusalem conference convened by the League of Arab States today, Sunday, that such unilateral actions would undermine the negotiations for a final solution, in accordance with all international agreements signed between the two sides.
And he stressed the necessity of providing support by Arabs and Muslims for development projects in Palestine, stressing that Jerusalem is in the eyes, as it is the jewel of the crown and the flower of cities, and defending it is honor and elevation.
The activities of the Jerusalem Conference, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, which aims to support and strengthen the steadfastness of the people of Jerusalem, as they are the first line of defense for Jerusalem, and they fight a daily battle with their steadfastness on the ground.
The conference is expected to call for the need to support ambulance and emergency services in Jerusalem, especially in Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, and centers of contact with the occupation authorities and settlers, and to develop the infrastructure of the Jerusalem hospital network. It will also call for the formation of an independent, sustainable and flexible financial fund to support and protect education in Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
The conference will discuss in depth investment opportunities and what the Holy City needs in terms of developing vital sectors, and ways to enable Jerusalemites to stand firm in the face of Israeli plans.
For its part, the Permanent Delegation of the State of Palestine to the Arab League confirmed that the conference will present a number of projects that have been carefully studied and simulate the reality in Jerusalem. With regard to bringing the ongoing violations and crimes against humanity to international courts.
The delegation pointed out, in a statement, that the Palestinians are now in a situation in which the demolition of homes and the continuation of the settlement occupation has become a matter of consensus within the Israeli interior.
The Palestine Delegation considered the conference on investment and support for Jerusalem as a response to the attempts of the occupation, the change of the existing legal and historical situation in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the strengthening of the steadfastness of the Jerusalemites.
