Iraq stresses the importance of European support to recover looted funds and combat corruption

Today, Saturday, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, stressed the importance of the European Union's support to the Iraqi government in the field of combating corruption, recovering wanted persons, and recovering looted funds.

The media office of the Iraqi prime minister said in a statement - according to the Iraqi (Alsumaria News) channel - that "Al-Sudani met at his residence with the President of the European Commission, Ursula Vonderlein, on the sidelines of his participation in the 59th session of the Munich Security Conference."

He added, "The meeting reviewed the relations between Iraq and the entire European Union, where the Prime Minister affirmed his country's desire to conclude advanced development partnerships with the countries of the Union in various fields."

Al-Sudani explained that "his meetings with the leaders of Germany, France and Italy come on the path of economic cooperation, and building bonds of cooperation to face economic challenges and the effects of climate change and build stability and sustainable development," referring to the framework agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the European Investment Bank, and openness to European companies' investments and their contribution to the service sector. in Iraq.

For her part, Vonderlein expressed her support for the Iraqi Prime Minister and his reform decisions, and the desire of the European Union countries to cooperate and exchange with Iraq in light of long-term partnerships, pointing to the seriousness of European countries in finding real partnerships in the fields of energy and renewable energy.
