The results of a vote in the US House of Representatives indicated that the House rejected a resolution to withdraw US forces from Syria.

In support of the document that called on US President Joe Biden to withdraw the US army from Syria, only 103 lawmakers voted in favor of it, while 321 voted against it.

Congressman Matt Goetz, the co-author of the resolution, insisted that the administration must explain the presence or withdrawal of US forces in Syria, and that the House of Representatives should clarify its position on the matter.

The draft resolution indicates that the number of US forces on the territory of Syria is 900, although Congress has not approved this.

"Until today, Congress has not approved in any way the presence of the American armed forces in Syria," the deputy said in a statement.

Goetz indicated that the House of Representatives should put the draft resolution to a vote within 18 days from the date of its submission, as it relates to issues of war and peace.
On the other hand, the Syrian Foreign Ministry issued, on Wednesday, a statement regarding the statements of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken regarding support for the militants.

In a statement, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said: "The US Secretary of State's statement on March 6, 2023 is closer to hallucinations and irresponsibility than to logic and objectivity, as it reverses facts and manipulates events."
She added, "Without funding, support, and armament from the United States of America and its Western allies, the herds of armed terrorist organizations would not have been able to commit massacres against the Syrians and destroy their infrastructure and civilization, and the US Secretary of State or his predecessors cannot wash their hands that are stained with the blood of the Syrians or the robbery that they are still doing." to plunder the Syrian oil and agricultural wealth.

And the statement continued: "The US secretary's reference to his administration's continued support for armed groups and militias is clear evidence of the US administrations' indulgence in the shedding of Syrian blood over the past twelve years," stressing that US officials who used unlimited funds to destroy Syria and shed the blood of its people must be held accountable.

And the Syrian Foreign Ministry added: "Continuous and lasting peace in Syria cannot be achieved through the continuation of the American occupation of Syrian land and the establishment of illegal military bases on it."
