Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
Hungarian Defense Minister Krzysztof Salai Borovnitsky has warned that Europe will be drawn into the conflict in Ukraine more and more, suggesting that European countries will send troops there if they continue on this path.
And the Hungarian media quoted the minister as saying, yesterday, Monday, that "the West decided not to reduce the conflict, but rather to bring it to the general level ... And now we are at the point, where we must participate in this by voting alongside the sanctions, then with money and then with the means." Defensive, and now we see Leopard tanks being sent and we are about to send fighters."
He added, "If the situation continues like this, there will be a need for soldiers in the event that Ukrainian human resources run out. This is also an escalation, and Europe will be in the heart of the war as a result."
He noted that to stop the conflict in Ukraine it is necessary to have negotiations between Russia and the United States.
He continued: "There will be no peace without a decision from the United States, and this is known to everyone today. We said that several months ago, but it was not possible to talk about it then because the truth was distorted by those who speak proudly that Ukraine would have lost." The war went on too long without the support of the United States and the "free world".
The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban had expressed his opinion that Western countries are close to sending their forces to Ukraine, warning of the conflict turning into a "world war".
This comes as the German ambassador to the United Kingdom, Miguel Berger, said on Monday that the training of Ukrainian soldiers to use Leopard 2 tanks has almost been completed.
The German ambassador added - in a tweet carried by the "Sky News" news channel in its English edition - that Ukrainian soldiers can now use modern main battle tanks, of which Germany will send 18 of them to Ukraine in the coming days.
Berlin announced last January its intention to send some tanks to Ukraine.
