During the past few hours, statements were issued by Washington and Damascus dealing with the latest developments in the escalation in northeastern Syria, following the new attack that targeted a US military base. Friday, pointing out that there were no reports of injuries.
Ryder said during a press conference: "The coalition forces were targeted in the "green village" in northeastern Syria, with 10 missiles."
He added, "The attack did not result in injuries or casualties among our personnel and those of our coalition partners, nor did it result in damage to equipment or facilities."
And he added, "It was also subjected to new bombing, about 5 and a half hours after the American attack, which was in response to the bombing of the American base in Al-Hasakah Governorate."
He said: "One of the missiles fell 5 kilometers from the positions of the American forces."
Regarding his expectations of escalation and the possible US response to the second bombing that targeted Al-Qaeda, Ryder reiterated that he could not talk about future operations. "I can only say that we reserve the right to respond if our forces are threatened," he said.
Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder has previously said that our forces deployed in Syria are carrying out their duties in supporting the international coalition to defeat ISIS.
Ryder added - according to the American Al-Hurra TV channel - that our focus in Syria is to defeat ISIS and we are not interested in any conflict with Iran, pointing out that the United States is confident that the march that attacked our forces in Syria is Iranian.
This came after US President Joe Biden said that he had given instructions to respond quickly after an attack on an American base for the US Army in Syria, Thursday, according to Sky News.
Biden stressed that America is not seeking confrontation with Iran at the present time, indicating that America will continue to put pressure on Putin through sanctions, and we will continue to provide aid to Ukraine.
And Syrian media announced that an American base was being attacked by missiles, east of Deir Ezzor, according to Sky News.
Russia Today Network confirmed that an American base in Syria was targeted with 15 missiles, and that there was an exchange of shelling between the American forces and the source of the missiles, west of the Euphrates River.
This comes as Washington launched "precision" air strikes in eastern Syria on Thursday-Friday night, in response to a drone attack that killed an American contractor and wounded six others.
On the other hand, the strategic communications coordinator at the US National Security Council, John Kirby, said that there were no losses among American soldiers in the latest attack on a US base in eastern Syria, according to Sky News.
The US Army Central Command announced that two missiles were fired at an American base in northeastern Syria.
The US Army Central Command added that the US forces found the wreckage of the two missiles, and added that the attack was still under investigation, and stated that no party had claimed responsibility for the missile attack yet.
It is noteworthy that the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, visited, for the first time, US forces in Syria, and that short, unannounced visit sparked sharp criticism from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which it described as an "illegal visit."
