Finland will become the 31st member of NATO tomorrow, Tuesday (4 April 2023), right before the two-day meeting of Allied foreign ministers.
"It will be a good day for Finland's security, for the security of the North and for NATO as a whole," Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed Finland's imminent accession, according to a statement issued by NATO headquarters in Brussels.
As for the agenda of the ministers' discussions, the statement said, "At their meeting, the allies will touch on Russia's illegal war against Ukraine, and it is expected that they will agree to start work on developing a multi-year support program."
They will also discuss threats and challenges from the south, the importance of increasing defense investment, and China's growing alliance with Russia.
NATO partners in the Indo-Pacific region will also join the European Union in a discussion on the global consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine.
