Sudan: The General Command of the Army denies having information about approving a truce, and the international community continues its calls to stop the fighting

The General Command of the Sudanese Armed Forces denied in a press statement, today, Tuesday, that it had no information about the existence of coordination with the mediators and the international community regarding approving a truce, stressing that the "rebellion" declaration of a 24-hour truce aims to cover up the crushing defeat that it will receive within hours, adding: " We have entered a critical phase and our efforts are focused on achieving its objectives at the operational level."
And the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan announced, on Tuesday, the approval of a truce for a period of 24 hours, indicating its commitment to the directives that were issued in this regard as of dawn yesterday, and this came based on the direct contact between the head of the Rapid Support Forces, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, with the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
In a press release, the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan referred to the efforts of brotherly and friendly countries that made similar contacts, during which they called for a temporary ceasefire in order to open safe paths for the passage of civilians and the evacuation of the wounded.
This comes as international calls for an end to the conflict continue, and the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven countries called today, Tuesday, the two parties to the conflict in Sudan to "immediately stop hostilities."
And the foreign ministers of the major industrialized countries, after a meeting in Japan - according to Radio France Internationale reported today, Tuesday, urged all parties to immediately end the violence, calm tensions and restore civilian rule in Sudan.
The escalation of violence in Sudan has pushed the issue to the agenda of the Group of Seven, whose foreign ministers met in the Japanese resort of Karuizawa.
The head of the United Nations Integrated Transitional Support Mission in Sudan, Volker Peretz, had warned of the dire consequences of the current tensions in Khartoum, calling at the same time the leaders of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to restore calm and start a dialogue to resolve the crisis in the country.
