The Libyan Presidential Council stresses the necessity of restoring the unity of Libyans in order to build a democratic state

On Sunday, the head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Muhammad al-Manfi, stressed the need to restore the unity of Libyans, in order to build a democratic state, end the transitional political stages and renew the legitimacy of institutions.
Al-Manfi said - in his speech, coinciding with Libya's commemoration of the 108th anniversary of the Battle of Al-Qardabiya, which is considered a decisive battle in the history of the Libyan jihad against the Italian occupation - "The 108th anniversary of the Battle of Al-Qardabiyah passes, in which the Libyans wrote epics of heroism and honor, and the banners of national jihad in the east were united And west and south in defense of the homeland,” according to the Libyan News Agency.
Earlier this month, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Abdullah Batili, sent an official memorandum to the heads of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State, during which he presents the mission's readiness to provide the necessary support to the Joint Electoral Commission (6 + 6) in Libya.
A statement of the mission, reported by the Libyan Africa News Portal, stated that in order to accelerate the work of the 6 + 6 committee to support the Libyan-Libyan efforts aimed at holding comprehensive, free and fair elections in Libya during the current year 2023, the UN envoy, Abdullah Bathili, offered support to the United Nations Support Mission in Libya for the Joint Commission.
The mission indicated that this support can be of a technical and logistical nature and through the provision of experts, according to what the members of the Committee (6 + 6) of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State in Libya see, based on a joint written request from the Committee.
