Syrian President Bashar al-Assad urged with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, positive developments in the Arab arena, bilateral relations and continuous cooperation between Syria and the UAE in many fields. According to the Middle East News Agency.
And the Syrian News Agency stated that this came during the phone call that the Syrian president made with his Emirati counterpart, during which the Syrian president expressed his country's appreciation for the role that the UAE plays in reunifying and improving Arab relations, in a way that enhances joint Arab cooperation and serves the interests of Arab countries and peoples.
For its part, Russia welcomed Syria's decision to return to the League of Arab States and all its affiliated bodies and agencies, which leads to clearing the atmosphere in the Middle East.
The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, indicated that the resumption of Syria's participation in the activities of the League of Arab States will contribute to improving the tense atmosphere in the Middle East region, and overcoming the repercussions of the Syrian crisis as soon as possible.
"Moscow welcomes this long-awaited step, and it was a logical result of the process of returning Syria to the arms of the Arab family," Zakharova said in a statement posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website.
She indicated that Moscow was in constant contact with Arab capitals, and constantly called on them to resume relations with Damascus.
Zakharova publicly expressed Russia's hope for Arab countries to increase their aid to Syria, and to contribute to overcoming the obstacles to reconstruction resulting from the unilateral illegal sanctions imposed on Damascus.
For his part, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri said that the Arab League's decision to restore Syria's membership is tantamount to a new resurrection of joint Arab action.
Berri added - in a statement today - that the decision to return Syria to Arab action was delayed for years, but it is a step in the right direction and towards a return to Arab correctness, which can only be straightened by unity of class and word, as he put it.
And he went on to say, "With the return of Syria to the Arabs and the return of the Arabs to it, there is a glimmer of hope for a new resurrection of joint Arab action."
The Council of the Arab League at the level of foreign ministers decided to resume the participation of Syrian government delegations in the meetings of the Council of the League and all its affiliated organizations and agencies.
The Council renewed its commitment to preserving Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, stability and territorial integrity, based on the Arab League Charter and its principles, and emphasizing the importance of continuing and intensifying Arab efforts to help Syria get out of its crisis.
He welcomed the Arab statements issued by the Jeddah meeting and the Amman meeting, stressing the need to take practical and effective steps to gradually solve the crisis.
The Council formed a ministerial liaison committee consisting of Egypt, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Lebanon, to follow up on the implementation of the Amman Declaration and to continue dialogue with the Syrian government to reach a comprehensive solution.
