European Union: Peace cannot be negotiated without Ukraine, and Russia can and should stop this war today

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
During her speech at the eighth session of the Group of Seven meetings, which started Friday in Hiroshima, Japan and will conclude today, Sunday, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, focused on the "Ukraine" file and said, according to a statement issued in Brussels on Sunday morning, "
Nobody wants peace more than the Ukrainians themselves. Rather, a just peace does not reward the aggressor who invaded in the middle of the night. A just peace punishes the perpetrators of war crimes. A just peace that respects the legitimate rights, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. A just peace consistent with the principles of the United Nations Charter.

That is why Ukraine is defending itself. And that is why we are helping Ukraine to defend itself. This is why we support President Zelensky's efforts in his peace formula. No peace can be negotiated without Ukraine. More than 140 countries have consistently voted to demand that Russia unconditionally withdraw all its military forces from the territory of Ukraine. Russia can and should end this war today.

The impact of Moscow's ruthlessness extends far beyond its borders with turmoil in the global economy, from energy markets to food security. We are working together to mitigate the impact of this war on emerging and developing countries.
