The Arab League condemns an Israeli minister's storming of Al-Aqsa: it represents a dangerous escalation towards violence, and the Council of Arab Health Ministers calls for an end to Israel's attacks on Palestinian medical personnel

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States condemned the storming of the Minister of National Security of the right-wing Israeli government, Itamar Ben Gvir, into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque today, Sunday, as well as the holding of the Israeli occupation government for its weekly session inside the tunnels of Al-Buraq Square in Al-Aqsa Mosque, which comes within the framework of the escalating Israeli attempts to change the existing legal and historical situation and impose division temporal and spatial.

The Israeli government bears full responsibility for its consequences and repercussions. Stressing that Al-Aqsa Mosque in its entirety is a pure place of worship for Muslims, and that any measures taken by Israel, the occupying power, are null and insignificant and do not entail any right.
Abu Ali indicated in a press statement today that the fascist Israeli right-wing government, since assuming power, continues its escalation and aggression against the Palestinian people and their Islamic and Christian properties and sanctities, in a feverish effort to thwart any efforts to achieve peace and establish the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Assistant Secretary-General also called on the international community, with its states and institutions, to intervene immediately to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, to provide international protection for the Palestinian people, and to push for a serious peace process within the framework of an international conference and a specific time limit that leads to ending the occupation and establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Today, Sunday, the meeting of the 59th regular session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health took place, chaired by the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. During the meeting, the topics that were raised by the Executive Office and which were approved were discussed, which is the item on health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan. Which is always an item within the framework of the topics included in the Council of Arab Ministers of Health.
The Council called on the Director-General of the World Health Organization to intervene immediately to stop the inhumane practices that are contrary to international conventions that attack medical personnel and ambulances, prevent health teams from carrying out their duties, and impede the delivery of fuel and electric current supplies to Palestinian hospitals and health centers.
The Council adopted the unified speech of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health before the 76th session of the General Assembly of the World Health Organization, which will be delivered by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Yemen, and the organization of an Arab conference and exhibition for pharmaceutical industries and medical supplies, which will be hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the umbrella of the Manama Health Conference and Exhibition in its second session in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in The period from 7-9 December 2023, under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health.
Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, indicated that in light of the urgent humanitarian developments of the Arab countries, the issue of Arab coordination for relief and health humanitarian developments was presented to the Arab ministers of health. In humanitarian affairs, in cooperation and coordination with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and the Arab Organization for the Red Crescent and Red Cross, in order to benefit from the experiences of all agencies working in the field of relief and humanitarian aid in the Arab region. The Technical Secretariat was also assigned to hold a meeting of the committee. Arab Health Emergency to activate its work.
The Council also discussed the strategy for improving the health of mothers, children and adolescent girls in the Arab region, and the Council assigned the technical secretariat to present successful Arab experiences in this regard to build and develop the capabilities of human resources in response to the health needs of mothers, children and adolescent girls, and to exchange various experiences between Arab member states. The Council also approved the activation of the initiative Pink wallet for Arab women's health.
Abu-Ghazaleh also noted that the 59th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health witnessed the launching ceremony of the Arab strategy for a health-friendly budget in the presence of Arab ministers, the United Nations Population Fund for Arab Countries and the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, and indicated that this strategy is a reference for Arab countries to develop Health budgets are more responsive and flexible to the needs of their residents.
She added that the work of the 76th session of the World Health Assembly is being held this year under the slogan of saving lives and health for all, and is witnessing important meetings, including the health of women, children and adolescents (2016-2030), universal health coverage, and the political declaration of the high-level meeting on the prevention of non-communicable diseases, Preparedness, preparedness and response to public health emergencies, discussion of the draft global strategy on infection prevention and control, health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan, polio eradication and developments in this regard.
