Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
Today, Tuesday, the Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, heads to Slovakia to participate in the B9 Summit, which is hosted by the President of Slovakia, Mrs. Zuzana Shaputova, the President of Romania, Klaus Werner Iohannis, and the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.
According to a statement issued by NATO headquarters in Brussels, the Secretary-General will separately hold bilateral talks with the President of Slovakia, Ms. Zuzana Šaputova, and the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Mr. Udovet Odor.
It is expected that the focus of the discussions will be on files related to the developments of the situation in Ukraine and preparations for the NATO summit scheduled in Lithuania next month.
In June of last year, the leaders of the eastern wing of NATO (NATO) agreed during a summit in Romania that Russia's war in Ukraine undermines peace in Europe, and after the holding of the nine summit, which brings together the countries of the "eastern wing" of NATO (NATO) in the capital Romanian Bucharest, the participants agreed on a joint statement stating that Russia's war against Ukraine has undermined peace in Europe.
The statement strongly condemned the "unjustified Russian aggression" against Ukraine with the complicity of Belarus, and called on Russia to change its aggressive behavior and withdraw its forces from Ukraine, as he put it.
The summit was chaired by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis and Polish President Andrzej Duda, with the participation of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
Also participating in the remote summit was NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who said in a speech that the alliance should intensify its support for Ukraine, strengthen its deterrence and defense capabilities, as well as strengthen relations with "like-minded" partners.
