Polling begins to elect members of the Kuwaiti National Assembly

Today, Tuesday morning, the second parliamentary elections in Kuwait took place in 9 months, and the third during the era of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
According to Al-Qabas newspaper website, more than 793,000 voters were invited to the polls to choose 50 deputies for a four-year term, in the seventh legislative elections held in the country since 2012.
There are 207 candidates running in the elections, including 13 women, which is the lowest number of candidates in legislative elections in Kuwait since 1996.
The polling stations will open their doors for 12 consecutive hours, while the counting of votes will begin after the polling door closes at 8 pm and the voting process ends, in preparation for announcing the official results and naming the winners of the Council’s membership for the next four years.
Voting will be in accordance with Article 32 of Law No. 35 of 1962 regarding the elections of members of the National Assembly by means of the original nationality certificate, as it is presented to the head of the election committee for review, and then he stamps it with a special stamp after verifying the identity according to the nationality certificate.
