The United Kingdom announced imposing sanctions on two senior officials in Syria for their involvement in sexual violence against civilians, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict.
According to what came in a tweet on Twitter by British government spokeswoman Rosie Diaz, who said, "The use of sexual violence as a weapon in wars and conflicts must stop. Therefore, the United Kingdom imposed a new package of sanctions that includes freezing assets and travel bans on perpetrators of violence, including the army chief and the defense minister."
"We stand with the survivors of this violence and we are determined to hold those who commit these crimes accountable," the British spokeswoman wrote.
