The General Administration of the Tunisian National Guard said, on Sunday, that the Coast Guard forces thwarted 65 irregular migration attempts during the days of Eid al-Adha.

It added in a statement that 2,068 people were rescued while attempting to cross the Mediterranean to reach Europe on June 27, 28 and 29.

She explained that the migrants set off from the coasts of Sfax, Mahdia, Sousse, Monastir and Nabeul, and that most of them are from sub-Saharan African countries.
