More than 400 million euros.. New funding for European university alliances to enhance cooperation in the field of higher education

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
The European Commission in Brussels announced new funding for the European Universities Initiative, which provides support to alliances of higher education institutions, within the framework of what is known as the Erasmus Plus program for the year 2023, with a record budget of 402.2 million euros.
Each European university alliance receives a budget of €14.4 million for four years. These alliances bring together a new generation of Europeans who are able to study and work in different European countries, in different languages, and across academic sectors and disciplines.
Thanks to these alliances, students can obtain a degree by combining studies in several European countries, which contributes to the international competitiveness of higher education institutions in Europe.
This was announced through a statement issued by the European Commission in Brussels, which also stated, “With the addition of seven new European university alliances, the total of 50 alliances now includes more than 430 higher education institutions in 35 countries. These are all EU member states, Iceland and Norway. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey.
Students of these institutions can benefit from a unique and innovative cross-border educational offer, allowing them to acquire the essential skills and competencies of the future.
Furthermore, by partnering with nearly 1,700 associated partners from NGOs, businesses, and local and regional authorities, the Alliances of 50 European Universities bring large-scale innovation to Europe's regions.
