The European Union's humanitarian budget for the current year is higher than the total global budget

According to what was stated in his tweet on the X website, "Twitter previously," Louis Bueno, spokesman for the European Union in North Africa and the Middle East, said, "Did you know that the European Union has provided humanitarian aid since 1992 in more than 110 countries that reach millions of people around the world?" The European Union's humanitarian budget for the year 2023 amounted to the equivalent of 1.7 billion euros, or 36% higher than the total global budget.
The European Union Commission has previously announced the allocation of 1.4 billion euros in its budget for humanitarian aid programs in 2021.
Previous media reports indicated that the European Commission has allocated 385 million euros in humanitarian aid to countries in the Middle East and Turkey affected by the Syrian crisis and the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
Also, 505 million euros have been allocated for the various needs of those affected by crises in Africa, such as Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Chad, Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Somalia and Ethiopia.
As for the countries of Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Arakan, the European Commission has allocated 180 million euros.
It also allocated 28 million euros for projects targeting crises in Ukraine, the western Balkan countries and the Caucasus region, and 302 million euros for unexpected humanitarian crises.
It is worth noting that the value of humanitarian aid for the European Union in 2020 amounted to about 900 million euros.
