Tripoli: Agencies
The Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Taiani, considered that the assassination of Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 was a grave mistake and led to political instability in Libya and throughout Africa.
"Assassinating Gaddafi was a huge mistake. He may not have been a champion of democracy, but with his death, instability prevailed in Libya and Africa," Taiani said.
And the Italian Foreign Minister announced earlier that the Italian government is closely monitoring the situation in Tripoli, where clashes took place between armed groups.
RT correspondent in Libya said on Wednesday evening that the death toll from the clashes in the capital, Tripoli, as a result of violent clashes between two armed groups loyal to the government, rose to 55 dead and 146 wounded.
The correspondent added that after a full day of armed confrontations between the forces of the Radaa Agency and the "444th Brigade", the two most influential military forces in the capital, calm has returned to the areas of Tripoli.
He stated that the clashes stopped after the announcement of an agreement between the Social Council in the municipality of Souq al-Juma'a and the four districts and the government of national unity, which stipulates stopping the shooting in Tripoli and handing over the commander of "Brigade 444" to a neutral party.
Hamza's arrest on Monday sparked clashes between his division of the Government of National Unity and the Radaa Forces of the Presidential Council, which arrested the commander of the brigade.
