The UN Security Council will hold a special meeting next Thursday to review the situation in Libya. It is a regular meeting that the Council holds every two months to review developments in the situation in Libya. The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General and Head of the UN Mission in Libya, Abdullah Bathily, is scheduled to deliver a speech in which he will review the report of the UN efforts made to support the stability of Libya and the security and humanitarian conditions there.
Ambassador Yamazaki Kozuki (Japan) will also participate in the session, in his capacity as Chairman of the UN Sanctions Committee on Libya, which has been operating since 1970. The Chairman of the Committee will inform the members of the Security Council about the progress of its work, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations will also participate in the session to review the periodic United Nations report on Libya. .
