Leaders of institutions and countries in the European Union to Cairo... to discuss strengthening the partnership with Egypt

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will travel to Cairo on Sunday, accompanied by Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The president and the three prime ministers will meet with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
According to what was stated in a statement issued by the European Commission in Brussels, the statement added:
This trip comes within the framework of discussions that took place on strengthening the partnership between the European Union and Egypt.
This follows a visit by President von der Leyen in November 2023.
  Discussions between the European Union and Egypt have intensified in recent years to cover a wide range of areas of intervention.
  The European Union and Egypt are working together on a strategic, comprehensive and mutually beneficial partnership, which builds on the long-term relations and partnership priorities agreed last year.
