In conjunction with the Arab and Islamic countries’ celebrations of Mother’s Day, 11 women from the “XR for Palestine” movement cut their hair as a form of peaceful strike, in front of the British Parliament building in solidarity with Gaza.
This collective action is linked to the water shortage in Gaza, as some women there shave their hair to conserve water for drinking.
The group chanted, "Free, free Palestine," before they took turns sitting in the middle of the group to shave their heads.
According to the Russia Today website, one of the women said, “I am a midwife and have been working as a midwife for 30 years, and I feel sadness and pain over the constant death and destruction that is happening in Gaza and the complicity of the international community and the UK government. So I decided that I wanted to shave my head as an external expression of what I feel internally about this.” "The command."
An 18-year-old woman who also shaved her head said, "I am here today in grief and solidarity with the women of Palestine and all those people in the Gaza area. Today's event was incredibly beautiful and shows our strength. We are not alone and neither are the women of Palestine."
The video then shows two women shaving their heads and holding signs. One of them read: “Water is being used as a weapon of war. Stop the siege.”
The second banner read: “Access to clean water and sanitation is a basic human right. Stop the blockade.”
On the ground, 6 Palestinians were martyred by Israeli occupation bullets in Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Tulkarm. On Thursday morning, the Israeli occupation forces executed a Palestinian after they shot him on the pretext of finding a knife in his bag during a search operation, and left him to bleed to death at the intersection of the Gush Etzion settlement bloc, south of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that the man died from his injuries after being left to bleed to death.
Palestinian sources reported that the martyr was the elderly Sameh Muhammad Abd al-Rai Zaytoun (63 years old) from the city of Hebron.
The Palestinian Red Crescent indicated that the occupation forces transported the body of the martyr in an Israeli ambulance.
In Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, a young man was martyred, and two others were injured, during confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces in the “Satah Marhaba” neighborhood, in the city of Al-Bireh.
Security sources said that the young man, Muhammad Nashat Salhiya (19 years old), from Al-Amari camp, was martyred, succumbing to critical wounds he sustained as a result of being shot in the head by live occupation bullets.
The same sources added that two other citizens were injured by bullets during confrontations with the occupation forces in the Umm Al-Sharayet neighborhood in Al-Bireh, one in the thigh, and the other in the flank, and their injuries were described as stable.
The sources added that the death toll in Nour Shams camp, east of Tulkarm, from last night until this morning, rose to four young men, as a result of the occupation’s aggression, which lasted more than 10 hours and left extensive damage to the infrastructure.
Dozens of Palestinians were martyred and injured, the majority of them children and women, as a result of the intense and continuous Israeli bombing of Gaza City on the 167th day of the war on the stricken Strip.
