The Palestinian factions announced, in a statement today, Saturday, “the destruction of an Israeli Merkava 4 tank with a Thaqib barrel bomb east of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.”
On the other hand, a number of Palestinians were martyred and others were injured, at dawn on Saturday, in a missile and artillery shelling by the Israeli occupation forces, on citizens’ homes in different areas of the Gaza Strip.
Wafa Agency reported that the occupation forces targeted with artillery the homes of citizens in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, the Al-Sabra neighborhood in its center, and the Tal Al-Hawa and Sheikh Ajlin neighborhoods, southwest of the city, which led to the death of three citizens and the injury of about 10 others. They were taken to Al-Baptist Hospital in City.
The occupation artillery also bombed the homes of citizens in the areas of Al-Mughraqa, Al-Zahraa, and the northern outskirts of the Nuseirat camp in the center of the Gaza Strip, which led to injuries among citizens, after which they were transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city of Deir Al-Balah, in the center of the Gaza Strip.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, said, “The war in Gaza is the bloodiest conflict, in terms of its speed, scope and inhuman ferocity – for civilians, aid workers, journalists, health workers, and for our colleagues.” According to what was published on the United Nations website on X site
The UN Daily News quoted the Secretary-General as saying that the Israeli military campaign - over the past six months - has brought relentless death and destruction to the Palestinians in Gaza, stressing that nothing can justify collective punishment of the Palestinian people. He also said that October 7 was a day of pain for Israel and the world, and that nothing justifies the terror unleashed by Hamas on that day.
This came after the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a resolution in which it called on all countries to “stop the sale, transfer and transfer of weapons, ammunition and other military equipment to Israel” in order to prevent further violations of international humanitarian law and violations of the human rights of the Palestinian people.
In the same regard, and at the request of Algeria, the UN Security Council held a meeting yesterday morning, Friday, to discuss the situation in Gaza, following the killing of 7 aid workers with the World Central Kitchen organization in several air strikes launched by the Israeli army.
