The Israeli army continues to bomb various areas in the Gaza Strip for the 189th day in a row, despite the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
For his part, the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Jamie McGoldrick, said that the situation of the people of Gaza remains very difficult, with no real improvement in the delivery of life-saving humanitarian aid or vital health care support in recent weeks - despite recent commitments. In the same regard, the Secretary-General of the United Nations announced the appointment of Muhannad Hadi (Jordan) as Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, succeeding Mr. Jamie McGoldrick (Ireland), to whom the Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for his dedication and service.
