The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bahamas announced that the Council of Ministers decided to officially recognize the State of Palestine.
According to the Palestinian News Agency, the Palestinian Presidency welcomed the announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bahamas that the Council of Ministers decided to officially recognize the State of Palestine, appreciating its contribution in consecrating the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination on their land and in taking actual steps to support the implementation of the two-state solution.
The Presidency said that the right of peoples to self-determination is an established right recognized under international law, adding that the State of Palestine renews its continuous call to countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to stand up to their responsibilities and acknowledge the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and restore confidence in a global system based on rules and rights. Equality for all peoples of the earth.
The Presidency expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and the Embassy of the State of Palestine to the Caribbean Basin for their efforts in this regard.
This comes as Moroccan Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita discussed, on Tuesday in Rabat, with Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, preparations for the 33rd Arab Summit, which Bahrain will host from May 14 to 16.
The visit also comes within the framework of the fraternal relations between the leaders of the two countries, as well as an affirmation of the distinguished relations between the two countries, which are dominated by effective and continuous solidarity and continuous coordination and consultation.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, called on the international community to take immediate action and collective action to put pressure on the Israeli occupation forces to stop their dangerous aggressive violations of the Palestinian territories and their threat to the lives of innocent civilians.
Al-Budaiwi stressed - according to what was reported by the Saudi News Agency (SPA) - that the continued provocations undermine the chances of peace and reinforce the escalating episodes of violence in the region, which requires immediate international intervention to end the crisis, noting that expanding the scope of Israeli military operations inside the Palestinian territories to include Rafah after... The Gaza Strip would expose the lives of many Palestinian people to dangers, and directly contribute to threatening security and peace in the entire region.
This came after the Russian President's Special Envoy to the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, confirmed that any potential Israeli operation in the Palestinian city of Rafah could turn into a humanitarian disaster.
The Russian Novosti news agency quoted Bogdanov as saying: “More than one and a half million civilians are currently concentrated in the southern Gaza Strip in the Rafah area,” adding that “a humanitarian catastrophe will occur as a result of the bombing and operations of the Israeli army.”
Earlier, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, warned that an Israeli invasion of the city of Rafah would be “unbearable,” while the Hamas movement announced yesterday that it had informed the mediators in Egypt and Qatar of its approval of their proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.,
