A UN official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that the United Nations did not receive any relief supplies via the floating dock on Sunday or Monday. According to the official, this is due to an incident in which Palestinians unloaded trucks before they could reach UN warehouses.
Ten more trucks loaded with food were transported from the dock to a warehouse in the Gaza city of Deir al-Balah on Friday, according to the United Nations. Only five of the 16 trucks arrived on Saturday, because eleven other trucks were emptied by Palestinians along the road. “We need to ensure that the necessary security and logistical measures are in place before moving forward,” the unnamed official said.
The US command center CENTCOM announced on Tuesday that more than 569 tons of aid had been delivered through the temporary dock in Gaza. US officials said the dock would initially be able to handle 90 trucks per day, but that number could rise to 150 trucks. According to the United Nations, at least 500 trucks are needed daily for Gaza. According to what was reported by the Dutch News Agency
Biden: The Israeli attack on Gaza is not genocide
This came after US President Joe Biden strongly defended Israel yesterday, Monday, saying that Israeli forces are not committing genocide in their military campaign against Hamas fighters in Gaza. “What is happening in Gaza is not genocide, we reject that,” the president said during an American Jewish Heritage Month event at the White House.
Biden was referring to the case filed by South Africa against Israel in the International Court of Justice. South Africa claims that the war waged by Israel is genocide.
Earlier on Monday, Biden also spoke about the arrest warrants issued against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and three Hamas leaders at the request of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague. They are said to be guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
“Whatever the meaning of these arrest warrants, Israel and Hamas are not equal,” Biden said. The US President promised to provide "strong" support for Israel. He added that the United States stands with Israel "to eliminate the butchers of Hamas."
