Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights, wrote that many UN delegates reacted with anger to last night's Israeli air strikes on a camp in Rafah, saying: "This brutality, coupled with the blatant disregard for international law and order, is... unacceptable". The employee responsible for human rights in the Palestinian territories added, through a post on the X website, that she calls for more international pressure on Israel.
For his part, the spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in Gaza (UNRWA), Dr. Adnan Abu Hasna, confirmed that the number of martyrs and wounded as a result of the Israeli occupation army’s targeting of the tents of the displaced in Rafah may exceed 100 people.
Dr. Adnan Abu Hasna said in a statement to Sky News Arabia on Monday, “The Israeli bombing targeted an area close to our warehouses, and also targeted an area crowded with displaced persons,” noting that Israel bombed an area classified as “safe.”
He added that the area that was bombed contained large numbers of plastic tents, which caused large fires to break out, stressing that the fires had been brought under control, but the area had become largely destroyed.
The official spokesman for the Palestinian Presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeina, announced yesterday that the Israeli occupation army’s deliberate targeting of the tents of the displaced in Rafah is a massacre that has exceeded all limits, and requires urgent intervention to immediately stop these crimes targeting the Palestinian people.
