Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation in the Egyptian government, said that she expects the European-Egyptian summit scheduled for Brussels before the end of this month to lead to further economic cooperation and yield promising figures in both investment and financing. She noted that the summit, scheduled for October 22, is preceded by preparations and coordination, especially since there has been a strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union since March 2023, indicating significant progress in various economic, investment, and financing issues. The summit will be an opportunity to discuss all these issues. She added that she is currently participating in a conference in Brussels organized by the European Union, which addresses economic cooperation between Mediterranean countries and developing countries. “We are pleased to participate in such a conference.”
This comes a day after the minister made statements from Cairo, in which she said that the Egyptian-European partnership is one of the important axes of Egypt’s relations with the international community, as the European Union is a major trading partner of Egypt, in addition to joint coordination between the two sides in various international forums. She explained that since the announcement of upgrading the Egyptian-European partnership to a strategic partnership, relations have witnessed unprecedented development. This is unprecedented in terms of increasing investments and enhancing development cooperation efforts.
She explained that the Ministry is working to enhance follow-up with European partners and national authorities in Egypt to implement the economic component of the Egyptian-European partnership, in light of preparations for the Egyptian-European summit before the end of this October.
