Kuwait Foreign Ministry: We are working to achieve all United Nations resolutions related to combating terrorism

The Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for Development and International Cooperation, Commissioner Hamad Al -Mishaan, stressed the effective role of Kuwait in the field of combating terrorism and working to achieve all the contents of the United Nations resolutions related to combating and financing terrorism.
This came during the speech of the Kuwaiti official, today, Monday, on the occasion of the opening of the workshop concerned in the virtual currencies, which Kuwait hosted for two days, in cooperation with the TV Financing Targeting Center (TVC).
"Today we are pushing the fruits of the desired results five years after the establishment of a center for targeting terrorist financing and the inclusion of entities and individuals involved in terrorist financing operations, and identifying the concepts of danger while achieving a road map in exchanging information and building capacity and coordinating the efforts of member states in combating terrorism and financing it."
He added that despite the challenges faced by the international community in the spread of the (Corona) pandemic, the insistence and diligence did not stop the continuation of the work of the terrorist financing center, explaining that the entire world suffers from terrorist threats and funding operations in trying to remove stability in the region and harm political and economic systems and threat to elements International peace and security.
He recalled the role of member states and their effective participation by exchanging information and working to achieve the concept of capacity building, which reflects that the common threat and threat in the region, expressing his thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America for their efforts in preparing and working in the joint presidency.
It is noteworthy that the terrorist financing targeting center was established in 2017 as a cooperative approach to confront the threats and changes arising from (terrorism) financing headed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America and the membership of the Arab Gulf states.
The center contributes to achieving the pillars of joint work with new and innovative tools from the standpoint of identifying, tracking and exchanging information related to terrorist financial networks and coordinating deterrent and joint measures and working to enhance capacity building to counter the threats of terrorist financing.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister affirmed the completion of the Ministry's efforts to raise the names of Kuwaiti citizens from the lists of the Security Council concerned with combating terrorism.
Al -Mashaan indicated that the UN Security Council, Richard Malanjoom, is scheduled to visit Kuwait in mid -October to hold talks with the rehabilitation committee listed on the security council’s lists concerned with combating terrorism to find out its impression on the lists.
He added that the committee was chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and includes in its membership (State Security Agency), Psychiatry Hospital and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
He explained that Malantom will meet the runners separately without interference from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or any other party, provided that after two months he prepared a report on the one who is included and then submitted to the Security Council and is voted on, indicating that the lists of the Security Council concerned with combating terrorism include three Kuwaitis and two It is illegally residing.
Al -Mashaan pointed out that the Foreign Minister sent messages to the foreign ministers of the member states of the Security Council, in which he pledges that these people entered a rehabilitation program and the state is enough for them, indicating that the custom has been done that the person concerned submitted his request to the Security Council without the interference of the state.
It is noteworthy that the Secretary of Grievances is the person concerned in evaluating any person who is placed on the special terrorist lists in the Security Council, and through meeting with him and inviting the information collects information and accelerates the process of completing the requests submitted by the listed and transferring requests from the sanctions committee to the UN Security Council to vote by member states In the Council
